Native New Yorker Kathy Karadza started making purses in her down time while working backstage on Broadway shows. She used leftover fabrics from costumes to learn how to make handbags. Enough coworkers noticed her bags and asked to purchase them or for custom orders, and soon enough, her hobby became a small business. Her background in costume design adds to her extensive knowledge of fine fabrics, leather, and fabrication methods. Her work has been sold in boutiques throughout New York City and at local craft fairs.
